naked lady

Amaryllis

This beautiful flowers name is take from a shepherdess in Virgil's pastoral "eclogues", from the Greek ἀμαρύσσω meaning "to sparkle".
She is commonly know and referred to as "naked lady" because of the plant's pattern of flowering when the foliage has died down. True beauty revealed in quiet surroundings.
Naturally it is one of my favorites.
